I like to keep up with the current user experience in both Android and iOS, so I run an Android phone (Pixel 4) and an iPad Pro. The weather app Dark Sky runs on both, but it’s better on Android because it can integrate better into the home screen.
Well now Apple has bought Dark Sky, and priority one is to kill the apps for Android phones, tablets, and wearables.
That sucks. Apple did something similar when they bought Texture. They killed Android access, and integrated Texture into the Apple News platform, a far inferior user experience.
I suppose this can’t be legally classified as anti-competitive behavior, but the outcome is clearly bad for consumer choice and users. I wish Apple would stop it.
